In the world of gaming you have those games that boast a big game and deliver, and there are some that you don’t hear anything from. The mystery surrounding these games draw you in and trap you. And before you know it your hooked. Looking up wondering how did you get there and why. Operation 7 is more than just another FPS with an ambiguous name. Looking at the website you wouldn’t think much of this game. On the games introduction page the words “a new style of FPS game” sit there almost hidden, and you don’t get the full weight of this statement until you play the game. Operation 7 is a totally unique experience, and is not a game just to be played, it is a game to be felt.

The character creation at the beginning of the game was very interesting. I was stunned by the ways you could make you character look. Even though there were only a set number of choices the choices I had were not traditional if that is a good word to use. I was expecting to see standard military/mercenary type gear, but to my surprise I was able to give my character a black coat and what looked like black jeans. I came to find out later just how deep you can get with this customization. There are more clothing sets you can purchase to make your soldier truly unique.

Operation 7 contains 5 modes of play all team based. You have the standard Deathmatch and a Survival mode which is an elimination team match, and a demolition mode where a team protects objectives while the other team is trying to destroy them. The two remaining modes are Headhunter where each team has a person selected as the head. The objective is to eliminate the other teams head. Last but not least is the Hold the Line mode where teams fight for neutral flags and try to hold more positions than the other team. With this nice selection I choose a Deathmatch for my first round.

The first thing I noticed when I logged into my first match was the sound. The map was a grass field with 2 buildings facing each other. A small map that was straight forward. It sounded like I was outside in a grass field. The echos of teammates engaging the enemy was amazing. The next map was a city and you can hear the sirens of the police cars! I was stunned at how much detail is in the sound alone. I can vividly remember peaking around a corner and hearing a guy sneak up on me. I can’t remember the last FPS game where I heard the guy sneaking up on me.
