So the 2009 football season is over and nothing but a memory. Well get ready to relive the whole season interactively with Fantasy Football Throwdown. Fantasy Football Throwdown is a stat driven football simulation game that puts you in full control of the team. Think your team could have done better last year? Well give it a shot.
In Fantasy Football Throwdown you begin with a generated team, and you have the ability to draft players creating a team of your liking. This give you the full freedom to customize your ultimate dream team and take them to victory. Putting together a team is a rather simple process. FF Throwdown has six categories to pick players from for your team. You pick players in the categories of Quarter Back, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Tight End, and Kicker. The last category is the entire Defensive Line. Instead of choosing individual players ,like in the other five categories, you choose a teams defensive line. The game puts a limit on the players you can get by adding a cost to each player. You start with $5500.00 and spend this money on the players for your team. As you win games you gain more money to purchase better players for your team.

After you got your team together you are ready to jump right into a game. You start at 1st and 10 on your 20 yard line in a single player game against the AI. On the offensive side you are given eight different plays to choose from. Four are run plays and the other four are passing plays. Picking a play will bring up a list of players associated with the play. Each player comes with yardage stats that you use along with the selected play. These stats are based on the actual performance of the player in the real games during the season. For instance if a running back had a 15 yard run in a real game then there would be a 15 yard run stat that would be available for you to choose from in FF Throwdown. By picking this stat along with the play you have a greater chance of making a 15 yard run on the selected play. Picking passing plays is the same except you also pick a passing stat for your quarter back. On the defensive side you are also given eight plays, but instead of picking stats for an individual player, you stats for the entire defensive line. remember the stats for the defensive plays is how many yards your line allows the other team to get. Not how many they attempt to stop for. For example a stat of 15 yards means the line will most likely allow a 15 yard offensive gain! And that is not what you want. Also on the defensive side is the ability to try and intercept or cause a fumble. You can use these stat enhances to try and force turnovers.
The interface is rather simple and straight forward with blue and red helmets on the field to represent the players. The game is nothing flashy as its focus is on the strategy and management of the stats of your team. It’s obvious that this is a grown ups game with emphasis on the outcome of your decisions instead of flashy actions. Although the game is not for everyone it is a definite must play for all fantasy football fans.
