Robot Apocalypse Movie Marathon   | read this item

Like most people I like a good movie, but a series of good movies is even better. Here is a marathon list that ,if watched in this order, will take you from the begging to the end of the robot uprising against mankind. Enjoy!

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey

2001-spacesuit1

This is an absolute must that you start here. Not only is 2001: A Space Odyssey considered one of the greatest movies of all time it is a perfect start to human genocide. The isolation, the mystery of near human A.I., and the battle of wits between man and machine. I promise not to tell anyone this movie had you considering legally changing your name to Dave.

2. I, Robot

This movie perfectly shows our society when it has completely embraced autonomous robots and machines as servants and companions. This movie is a good lead into the next section because of the robophobia of the main character played by Will Smith, and because the robots in this movie are just plain cool. It makes for a good connection showing how things started going completely insane.

3. Animatrix – The Second Renaissance

This just connects so well with I, Robot giving us insight on all the things that lead up to the war. You think we would’ve gotten the picture by now. The more we make fake stuff real the more it wants to kill us. Well since humans have to go there lets at least have a good time watching.

4. M.D. Geist 1 & 2 / Terminator Salvation

WAR IS HERE!!! I just threw M.D. Geist in to be sinister. I mean here is a guy who is so bored he triggers a doomsday device that releases robots that sole purpose is to kill humans! Terminator Salvation is not out right now, but when it does come out you best believe it goes right here in the series. From what I have read there are 2 more following Salvation and as soon as information is available they will join the list.

5. The Matrix

Talk about a bad case of indigestion. In The Matrix we have become food and the humans not being raised as food have found a new way to fight back. Im sure there is one guy on the planet wondering why humans had not thought to fight this way from the beginning. And I picture that same guy saying “I would love to punch they guy who said lets wait till there batteries run out!”. This is a lesson for us if we ever end up in the middle of a uprising, waiting for it to all blow over will not work.

6. Terminator Trilogy

The robots have figured out they are screwed. Neo is a super virus destroying their food supply so they decide to go back in time and stop it all before it begins. The Terminator Trilogy is about the robots last ditch effort to win this war.

7. The Matrix 2 & 3

Well come to find out the robots are not that bright by going back. By sending a robot back in time they have caused the very events they were trying to prevent. We pick back up with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions to witness the last battles of humans and robots.

Seriously, no Blade Runner? Deckard running around trying to find Skinjobs … I know it makes more sense to pretty much stick with both The Matrix, and The Terminator series for the robot design, with I, Robot sticking pretty close to the animatrix.

  2. Al says:

Blade runner 1982, Eve of Destuction 1991, Universal Soldier 1992, Cyborg 1989, Robocop 1987, Screamers 1995, Solo.

While all are not that bad and slightly out side the range of the list all are ok watches.
