31 July, 2009  |  No comments  |  The Broke Gamer

dos_box2I know you thought we here at Mogamu abadonded you with the downtime and all, but we were in the process of a move so we’re back and ready for business as usual.  Once again we are back with tip to keep up your gaming fix without breaking the bank, and in most cases there isn’t even a bank to break. This episode will focus on abandon ware. These are games that have been abandonded by the companies that created them and are now freely avalible on the web.

dos_box3These are usually older games that arent supported anymore and most were around before the internet existed. Now unlike emulators which require you to have the original of the game to legally play it, with abandondware the companies just don’t care. With a quick search on the internet you can find sites devoted to keep these doomed games alive. Most of these are old or very old DOS games which require a wonderful program called DOSBox.  There is a very detailed guide here that will guide you in the process of installing and playing a game.  Now that you have that where do you find the games?  You can find good lists of games to download and play on sites such as Abandonia, Game Stand, and Full Free Games.  What you will also find on these sites are more up to date games that are freely avalible too,  but I will save that for another post till then happy gaming.
