Will Wolverine suck or shinkt!

SHINKT!!! Isnt that the coolest sound ever created? That’s the sound of conflict resolution at its finest. Could you imagine you boss at work asking for your TPS reports for the 100th time. If only you could look him straight in the eyes…pop your claws (SCHINKT!!!) and tell him where to shove those reports. Lets face it, non of us will never be that cool because its phyically impossible, and thats what makes Wolverine so damn cool. I was reading Xmen and Wolverine comics before many of his current fans were even born. So, if you are going to make a movie of a character so popular and loved by so many fans, you better get it right…or else. SHINKT!!!

Like any other fan about to see his one of his favorite characters fully featured on the big screen, I would prefer not to be excited and to reserve any hopes that X-Men Origins Wolverine will up to its source material. That’s why, in case X-Men origins: Wolverine sucks, I would like to point out my 5 biggest fears of what can hurt this movie so I can point to the date on this article as say….”tolda ya so”. I hope I am wrong, but here they are.

5. Previous movies did Wolverine/X-men little justice

martin_luther_king_charles_xavier_xmenThe power of the pen is amazing. Because many reviewers gave alot of credit to the first two xmen movies, lots of fans claim how great the movies were. I disagree. They were ok at best as sci-fi fun and social metaphors, the later of which is credited completely to the comics and not the movies. The X-men are heavily inspired by the American Civil Rights movements and injustices of the 1950′s and 1960′s. People who were physically different were entering into normal American Society with catastrophic results. Xavier non violent ideals against enemies are inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, and Magneto’s by any means necessary approach is from Malcolm X. The “X” in Xmen seems almost itself inspired by Malcolm’s surletter. This is wonderful source material for the comics, but the movie felt like a photo-copy of a photo copy. If you run something threw a copier enough times, it because blurred and the movie suffered this fate. The message was there, but no characters outside of Xaviar and Magneto had an ounce ounce of depth, wolverine included. Wolverine’s lack of motivation nor interest is forgivable because he is arguably not the main character, but if he is to have the spotlight, we need more substanance. The same substance that had such inspiration and richness as the comics ideals.

4. Wolverine’s Back story might not work

weapon_xYou ever wonder why Matrix Revolutions was such a crappy movie? Its because Zion was only a plot device. It was back story meant to fill out the motivations of the characters. The Matrix worked best when Zion only existed in the minds of its protectors and we had to fill in the rest ourselves. The moment Zion appeared on screen, it was cheapened. My fear is that Wolverine’s origin story is the same and will suffer Zions fate. Wolverine search for his origin in the books was used as motivation, not plot itself. If this movie X-men Origins: Wolverine is going to hold our hand and walk us through Wolverine’s past scene by scene, but better do a damn good job of it. This movie is throwing Wolverines mysterious origins as a sacrificial lamb to the plot. If it doesnt rain for 30 days, we will be missing our lamb. Trust me.

3. Wolverine Alone on the Screen

woverine_aloneAs much as I like Wolverine, Im not sure he can survive an hour of undivided attention. I think the filmmakers knew this, because the movie does seem to sway into its usual “character-fest” of colorful yet under developed co-stars. A main character needs to be a driving force in the story’s movement from conflict to finality, I am not sure what Wolverine as a character accomplishes. He as always been a wild card in the events around him, not a focal point. Wolverine has always been brute force, more like a feature than a plot point. I am sure that the writers knew where they wanted to go and tell a “story” about Wolverines origin rather than relying on it, but I am still worried that anytime they try to stay true to the character, which I hope they do, the movie will suffer for it.

2. Hugh Jackman

jackmanI like Hugh Jackman, i do. I forgive him for Van Helsing, that was not his fault. I don’t even hold The Fountain against him either. The guy is a good actor. But, I always felt he was a little too pretty or Like-able to play Wolverine. Honestly, no one should like wolverine. Need him to win a fight, yes. Invite him to Sunday dinner…i dont think so. I loved Mel Gibson in Payback (1999), now THAT was Wolverine. Wolverine is short, badly spoken, and never described as attractive. Hugh Jackman was nominated the Sexist man alive, and he just doesn’t shake that image in the part of Wolverine. And what pains me the worst, is his hair always looks nice in the movie. Come on guys, if i was the movies director, I would fire all hairstylist and insist Jackman shoot the movie with the same hair he woke up with,

1. Over hyped mediocrity

Lets face facts. Fox is going to hype this movie because they want to make money. Fans are going to hype this movie because they love Wolverine. The Pestimist in me wants to atleast consider otherwise. But one thing is for sure, I will not even consider the reviews based on the leaked copy. In our industry, we understand the power of editing, post-production and timing. Final cuts are always very different. Anyone out there who has seen the leaked version should reserve judgement. Sure that sounds like a contridiction, but I believe in atleast giving something a real chance before you dislike it. Remember, pre-judgement was the motivation for the Xmen universe.

I think that you've underdeveloped one HUGE reason why it's going to be bad -- one of the big reasons why "The Last Stand" was so awful: massive amounts of characters who are there for NO REASON. Just a quick rundown: 1) Emma Frost. Wolverine has no idea she even exists until The Dark Phoenix Saga, and no one finds out about her diamond form until Genosha blows up. Why is she here? 2) Cyclops. Wolverine doesn't meet Cyke until he joins the X-Men and starts trying to make moves on Jean Grey. Cyclops has NOTHING to do with Weapon X. Why is he here? 3) Gambit. Wolverine doesn't meet Gambit until literally more than 100 issues into his run with the X-Men. Gambit has NOTHING to do with Weapon X. Why is he here? The list really goes on and on, including Deadpool and a random character based on Nightcrawler created for Will.i.am. I already hate this movie.

Wraith(played by Will.i.am) isnt a nightcrawler ripoff. he was a real weapon/team x member. n its not the same universe! so he can meet ne1! n wolverine 4gets everything n cyclops is gonna be blindfolded or sumthn so that he cant fight back, so he wont see wolverine so neither one of them will know that they had any previous contact!
